Bad idle on my 1995 GMC Jimmy. 4.3 Vortec CPI 4x4. 163k miles. When I turn the truck over, fires right up, and then goes into a sick idle cycle. The idle throttles from 500RPM to about 1500RPM and repeats the cycle. It sometimes stalls at the bottom, but fires right back up. It also eases up quite a bit once the truck is warm.
I have a 96 Blazer with the 4.3 vortec. When you start the car, it revs up to a really high rpm and stays there. As soon as you tap on the gas, it bogs down and dies. Let me know if you have any ideas.

If you are getting a code 34 you should look for a collapsed or blocked vacuum line going to the MAP sensor or electrical problem between the ECM and sensor. Normal output voltage of a MAP sensor should be about 4.5 volts or so with key on, engine off; and less than 1.5 volts with engine running at idle.
