  • Dec 26, 2006 · I have a 1999 chevy silverado 4x4 with a 4.3L It misfires some days and runs ok other days. I first started noticing the problem when it started getting cold outside. On warm days, the truck would run just fine. What happens is the truck will run fine until the rpm's get up to around 1800-1900rpm. It then starts to mis really badly.

Just finished a 2000 S-Blazer with a 4.3 that had random cylinder misfires. Here are the steps we took. First we replaced the plugs that were the wrong ones. With the computer conected we monitored the live data and were recordeing most of the misfires in cylinder 6, 4, 2 with an occational misfire on 5.

Now that I have the vehicle I want to fix it. The vehicle is a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500hd, 6.0 V8, 4×4, 193,000 miles.

0=misfire 0=multiple cyls. are misfiring (if it was a 1 then it would be cyl one, etc) Basically it means that the computer detects that you have at least 2 different cyls misfiring to the point to set the check engine. A higher end scanner (Genysis, SnapOn, etc) will allow you to go into the misfire counter and see which cyls are missing.
